Photos of My Work -- Enjoy!!
"Love's Horizon"
Detail from "Ribbon Exuberance"
I love hummingbirds! They are a delight to watch from our porch in North Carolina. In this close up, you can see the techniques used in "Ribbon Exuberance": appliqué, dimensional ribbon flowers, silk ribbon embroidery and beading.
"All About the Journey"
Patterns by Elly Sienkiewicz. The block frames, border, and border embellishments were designed by me. Machine quilted by Anita Shackelford.
Works in Progress
Like most quilters, I have more than one
project underway at any one time. A much-loved teacher at The Elly Sienkiewicz
Appliqué Academy, Anne Connery, often said, “I make blocks.” Behind this
statement is the simple truth that it takes a looooong time to make Album
blocks. I have two quilts officially underway. So, here is a look at each of those quilts in progress. Stop by this page again as I
will rotate pictures of finished blocks here on a regular basis.
I'm working on a large quilt of my designs which are inspired by those found in several antique quilts attributed to Mary Simon. In addition to the ones below, there are other blocks from this quilt in the Patterns section. The background for this quilt is a pale green yarn dye made by Daiwabo fabrics of Japan. Some of the appliqué fabrics are Japanese taupe by Daiwabo combined with batiks.
A detail from "Miss Lucy's Garden"
(see full block on the patterns page).
An acorn wreath with pink dogwood and a hummingbird.
Can you tell that I love hummingbirds?
The morning glory wreath. I love all kinds of birds!

The block pictured below is also on a Japanese taupe fabric made by Daiwabo. The pattern is from Baltimore Elegance by Elly Sienkiewicz. I added the embroidered embellishments.
